Goulds 3196 Replacement Pump Manufacturers: OEM, Non-OEM and Repair Routes Compared
Goulds 3196 replacement pumps come from three sources: ITT Goulds itself (the 3196 i-FRAME), non-OEM manufacturers whose own pages describe a pump built to the 3196 dimensional pattern (Dynapro D-196, Sunbo G series, Curflo G-Line and YSM G196), and repair of the installed pump with OEM or non-OEM parts of the same size and frame. Under ASME B73.1 a pump of the same designation and frame group is built to the same mounting, nozzle, shaft and baseplate envelope; the standard does not fix hydraulics, seal-chamber geometry beyond the minimum envelope, materials or internal parts. Interchange for any of them is confirmed against the installed pump’s nameplate and drawing before order.

Three routes to replace a Goulds 3196
No route is ranked here.
- Route A, a new OEM pump. The ITT Goulds 3196 i-FRAME product page states 29 sizes on 5 power ends (STi, MTi, LTi, XLTi, i17). OEM literature states that the 3196 meets ANSI/ASME B73.1M, that pressure-retaining components are hydrostatically tested and that i-FRAME pumps carry a 5-year warranty (gouldspumps.com 3196 i-FRAME page, OEM brochure and IOM).
- Route B, a new non-OEM pump built to the 3196 dimensional pattern. Pattern means the same ASME B73.1 designation, frame group and foot, nozzle and shaft envelope, not the same castings, curves, seal chambers or bought-out components. Makers whose own pages describe a 3196-pattern line are Dynapro D-196, Sunbo G series, Curflo G-Line and YSM G196; for any of them, interchange with a specific installed pump is confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing before order. Other manufacturers’ ANSI process pumps are covered in the supplier section, listed with what their own pages and literature publish.
- Route C, repair the installed pump. Keep the power end if it is sound and renew the wet end or individual parts. With OEM parts through authorised distribution, the OEM’s warranty terms apply as the OEM publishes them, and part identity is confirmed against the nameplate and serial number (the Goulds IOM asks for serial number, model and size when ordering). With non-OEM parts built to the same dimensional pattern, size and frame, the buyer checks the OEM warranty terms first, and interchange is confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing before order.
The drivers are qualitative: condition of power end against wet end; traceability of nameplate and part numbers; documentation demanded; like-for-like material or upgrade; fleet spares harmonisation; witness-test requirements; delivery scope. What ASME B73.1 fixes, and what it leaves to the manufacturer
The standard’s interchangeability rule covers pumps of the same standard dimension designation: they share mounting dimensions, the size and location of the suction and discharge nozzles, the input shaft, the baseplate and the foundation bolt holes (ASME B73.1 scope, asme.org). For a specific installed pump, interchange is confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing before order.
In practice the standard covers the D, CP and X dimensions, the foot bolt pattern, flange sizes and positions, shaft extension and keyway, back pull-out construction and a minimum seal-chamber envelope. Lettered dimensions are not reproduced on this page. The letters are tabulated by designation on G196 vs Goulds 3196 interchangeability, the lettered drawing is on technical downloads, and the certified drawing issued with the quotation governs.
The standard does not fix head, efficiency or NPSHr; impeller and casing castings; seal-chamber geometry beyond the minimum (enlarged-bore and tapered-bore chambers are manufacturer designs); power-end internals; or materials. Two pumps can share the same B73.1 envelope yet deliver different curves. ISO 2858 and ISO 5199 pumps use a different envelope; their parts are not interchangeable with B73.1 pumps.
Size strings need care: Goulds writes discharge x suction, then nominal impeller diameter (2x3-13), while some other OEM patterns write suction x discharge (3x2-13) for the same A30 designation. Compare designations, not strings, and verify the designation with the supplier or by measurement, since some makers offer larger nominal impellers on the same envelope (see ANSI/ASME B73.1 explained). Every row below is confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing before order.

- G196 column: G196 series (24 general-purpose sizes); Goulds 3196 sizes outside that list are available on request, confirm against the nameplate and installed pump drawing. G196 Low Flow sizes (1x1.5-8LF, 1x2-10LF, 1.5x3-13LF) are built to the Goulds LF 3196 dimensional pattern and are a separate pump, as are YSM’s self-priming pump and the G196 CV. This table covers general-purpose sizes only. Low-flow, self-priming and 17-inch sizes were developed after the original ASME B73.1 designation table was set, which is why the 1991 ASME B73.1M dimension table has no entries for them (the 17-inch sizes above are placed by designation from the ITT brochure); where no current OEM table gives a designation, installation dimensions come from the certified drawing. Same designation means the same mounting, nozzle and shaft envelope, not equal hydraulics, materials or internal parts; interchange is confirmed against the installed pump’s nameplate and drawing before order.

Who makes Goulds 3196-pattern replacement pumps, and other ANSI process pumps for reference
Reading rule for the two tables below: “not published” means absent on the page or pages checked on 2026-09-10; it is not a judgement, not proof of absence site-wide, and never inferred from distributors, marketplaces, forums or search snippets. Three groups are tabulated: the OEM, ITT Goulds; non-OEM makers whose own pages describe a 3196-pattern line (Dynapro D-196, Sunbo G series, Curflo G-Line, YSM G196); and other manufacturers’ ANSI process pumps, listed with what their own pages publish: Summit 2196, PumpWorks PWA Gen2 and Peerless 8196. The Summit 2196 product page carries no Goulds interchange statement, and its brochure includes an interchangeability and dimensional data table; the PumpWorks and Peerless pages checked carry no Goulds 3196 interchange statement. Rebuilders and parts houses are out of scope and are not named.

Competitor interchange statements are paraphrased, not quoted. Ask every supplier what is verified before order (nameplate, drawing, frame group); where a cell reads “not published”, ask rather than assume. Seven interchange checks before you order
The interface-by-interface reading of ASME B73.1 against the 3196 pattern, including which interfaces the standard fixes and which stay with the manufacturer, is set out on G196 vs Goulds 3196 interchangeability. This page keeps only the short form: seven checks that apply to any supplier, OEM or non-OEM, and verify a specific installed pump rather than a model name. Confirm before you order
- Nameplate: pump plate and motor plate photographed, never the motor plate alone; model, size, frame or group, serial number, material code and impeller diameter recorded.
- External interfaces: B73.1 designation, D, CP, X, base bolt pattern, nozzle size, rating and orientation, shaft extension and keyway, on the certified GA drawing issued with the quotation and checked against the installed pump drawing.
- Power end: frame group (never inferred from the size string), coupling hub bore against shaft diameter, sleeved or sleeveless shaft, isolator type and lubrication.
- Hydraulics: duty range, speed, liquid data, NPSHa against NPSHr and a curve for the offered trim; a performance test for duty-critical service.
- Seal: seal type, make, arrangement, chamber type and flush plan; an existing seal may not transfer (see mechanical seals for process pumps).
- Materials and documents: exact casting grade (ASTM designation) per part; GA drawing, sectional with parts list, curve, material certificates with heat numbers, dimensional inspection and test reports, matched on receipt to nameplate, serial and PO.
- Driver, coupling, base and rotation: rotation viewed from the coupling end; motor frame and position on the baseplate; coupling spacer length (DBSE); baseplate condition, foundation bolts and auxiliary connections.
Supplier comparison checklist: ten questions for every quotation
Send the same ten questions to every supplier and record “not published / not answered” where no answer comes; a marked gap is reviewable, a silent one is not. The YSM column reproduces published pages only. Answers that call for a follow-up, from any supplier: no frame group on the quotation; generic material names; no curve for the offered trim; no test scope; no written warranty term.

Complete pump, bare wet end or parts: matching scope to the problem
Complete pump. When the power end is worn, the duty has changed, or the plant wants a new nameplate and full documentation; confirm that the coupling, baseplate and motor frame remain (check 7).
Bare wet end on the existing frame. Casing, impeller, cover and adapter. Within the same G196 frame group, G196 power-end parts such as the bearing housing, shaft and isolators are typically shared across G196 sizes and pump types; casings, impellers and covers are specific to each pump type and size. The fit of a non-OEM wet end or part to an installed OEM frame is confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing before order.
Parts. OEM parts through authorised distribution (the IOM asks for serial number, model and size, and part identity is confirmed against the nameplate and serial number), or non-OEM parts built to the same dimensional pattern for the same size and frame group, confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing before order. YSM publishes YSM-reference to OEM part-number cross-reference tables for nine part groups, casing to feet, on replacement ANSI pump parts.
Obsolete, unmarked or damaged parts. These go through reverse engineering from a sample or drawing, using the digitising, casting and hydraulic-check capabilities described in the next section, so that re-patterned impellers are hydraulically checked against the pump curve rather than copied from worn geometry. Whatever the scope, B73.1 does not fix efficiency or NPSHr, so a curve for the offered trim belongs on the order for OEM and non-OEM parts alike.
How YSM builds and documents a G196 (published facts only)
YSM is an independent manufacturer. Pumps and parts are produced to YSM’s own drawings and patterns to the ASME B73.1 dimensional standard, are non-OEM, and are not supplied by or associated with ITT Goulds. Product details are on the G196 ANSI chemical process pump page.
YSM’s capabilities include 3D scanning or CMM digitising of cast surfaces and impeller vane profiles, casting simulation before pouring, and 3D-printed sand cores and moulds; re-patterned impellers are hydraulically checked against the pump curve.
The inspection steps published on certifications and quality are:
- material verification by spectrometer or chemical analysis per heat;
- hydrostatic test of pressure-containing parts;
- dimensional inspection of machined parts and ASME B73.1 interface dimensions against the drawing, with the in-house CMM (Tornado NCA10158) for interface and fit dimensions;
- dynamic balancing of all impellers;
- performance testing of complete pumps on YSM’s own factory test benches (water medium, to 9,000 m3/h, 6 bar, 250 kW), with the test curve supplied on request;
- final inspection.
Witness testing at the factory and SGS, Bureau Veritas or TÜV third-party inspection are available on request. Material certificates, balance reports and hydrostatic test reports are issued with the order; a dimensional inspection report can also be issued with the order. Export packing is non-fumigation wooden export cases, with small parts in inner cartons.

Manufacturing takes place on a 3,000 m2 site in Zhuangzhuang Industrial Park, Boshan District, Zibo, in operation since 2010 with about 35 staff (factory review).

A bare wet end on a sound existing frame covers casing, impeller, cover and adapter. Parts suit a sound pump with individual worn components. What documents should a replacement pump come with?
A certified general-arrangement drawing, a sectional drawing with parts list, the performance curve for the offered impeller trim, material certificates with heat numbers, hydrostatic, balance and dimensional inspection reports, and a performance-test report or third-party inspection report where ordered. Check these against the nameplate, model, serial number and purchase order on receipt.
Is a Durco Mark 3 interchangeable with a Goulds 3196?
