Summit Clark 3 Replacement ANSI Pump

YSM D Mark III · ANSI/ASME B73.1 · Non-OEM equivalent for an installed Summit Clark 3 of the same size and frame or group, confirmed on the nameplate and installed pump drawing

The non-OEM YSM D Mark III can replace an installed Summit Clark 3, an ANSI/ASME B73.1 reverse-vane process pump built to the Durco Mark 3 pattern, of the same size designation and group (1K, 2K or 3K), confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing before order.

D Mark III Programme · Summit Clark 3 Replacement

The Summit Clark 3 is an ANSI/ASME B73.1 process pump built to the Durco Mark 3 pattern — reverse-vane impeller, group-structured power end. That pattern is exactly what makes a cross-make changeover reviewable: B73.1 fixes the envelope and interface dimensions by size, and the YSM D Mark III programme is manufactured to the same pattern and is dimensionally interchangeable with a Durco Mark 3 type pump of the same size designation and group, confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing. Clark 3 group and size designations follow the Mark 3 pattern; the exact correspondence for your installed pump is confirmed from the nameplate during the selection review.

D Mark III series-level maximums across Groups 1, 2 and 3. The replacement size and group, and its limits, are confirmed from the installed pump nameplate and drawing on a reviewed, size-specific curve.

The Clark 3 Changeover and the D Mark III Programme

When an installed Clark 3 reaches the end of a rebuild cycle — casing wall at its corrosion allowance, a damaged frame, or parts support running slower than the plant can tolerate — the decision splits into two routes: replace the pump on the existing baseplate, or keep the pump running on parts. This page carries the first route; both start from the same nameplate data.

Interchange Basis: Mark 3 Pattern Groups

The Clark 3 carries the Mark 3 group logic. Each installed group is reviewed against the corresponding D Mark III group and its published sizes; the changeover is confirmed size-by-size, never assumed from the family name.

What Carries Over, What Is Reviewed

Carried by the standard

  • Mounting envelope and foot locations per B73.1 for the size — the baseplate case.
  • Suction and discharge flange positions and ratings for the size.
  • Shaft extension and coupling interface for the group — the motor case.
  • Back pull-out maintenance access; the casing stays on the pipe during power-end work.

Confirmed at changeover

  • Group and size correspondence from the installed pump’s nameplate.
  • Hydraulic duty — the replacement is selected to the duty point, not assumed identical by name.
  • Wetted material and sealing arrangement against the liquid in service.
  • Any site-specific piping loads, drains, gauges or auxiliary connections.

Design Features

Wet end

Reverse-vane impeller to the Mark 3 pattern with external adjustment: clearances are reset without opening the casing, and wear moves toward the cover rather than the casing wall. Casing and cover machined to the B73.1 envelope for the size.

Seal area

CBS, CBL, FMS and FML seal-housing options cover packed, mechanical-seal and flush-plan arrangements; the housing is selected to the sealing arrangement in service, not the other way round.

Power end

Group-structured power end with bronze or stainless labyrinth bearing isolators and SKF or equivalent bearings; sight glass and drain tappings per the pattern. One group serves its size band, which is what keeps parts stocking rational.

Materials of Construction

The wet end is quoted in the material the liquid requires; the table maps what is commonly specified on installed Clark 3 pumps to the published YSM option.

Commonly specified on the installed pumpYSM published wet-end option
316 stainless steelCF8M (cast 316)
Duplex CD4MCuCD4M (CD4MCu)
Alloy 20CN7M
Carbon steelWCB
Hastelloy B / CHastelloy B & C
Nickel100% Nickel
TitaniumTitanium
ZirconiumZirconium alloy

Exotic-alloy casting — Hastelloy, nickel, titanium, zirconium — runs through the same foundry routes as the standard grades: sand, lost-foam and V-process casting with traceable inspection reports, dynamic balancing of every impeller and pressure testing of every casing.

Seal and Shaft Options

Seal environment

Packed box, single or double mechanical seal, and the flush plans the process requires; the CBS / CBL / FMS / FML housing family carries the geometry. The arrangement in service on the installed Clark 3 is the starting point of the review.

Shaft arrangements

Sleeved and solid shaft options per group; sleeve and shaft materials follow the wet-end specification. Shaft extension and keyway match the Mark 3 pattern for the group, which is what lets the coupling and motor stay.

Scope: Complete Pump, Bare Wet End, or Parts

Complete pump

Assembled to the reviewed configuration and tested; delivered ready to set on the existing baseplate.

Bare wet end

Casing, impeller and cover to the reviewed size; the existing power end continues in service where its condition supports it.

Parts for the installed Clark 3

Where the decision is to keep the pump running, wet-end and power-end parts are supplied through the Replacement Parts Center identification route.

Part numbers

Part positions, YSM references and the Durco Mark 3 pattern OEM numbers they are quoted against are published once, on the parts pages, rather than repeated on every changeover page:

All part numbers shown on those pages are for identification only. All parts are non-OEM and manufactured by YSM.

Installation Dimensions

B73.1 fixes the mounting envelope, foot locations and flange positions by size, which is what a pattern changeover stands on. The published D Mark III dimension table — X, O, D, E1/E2, CP, F, H, U, V and Y by size and group, in inches and millimetres — is carried on the D Mark III General Purpose page, and the dimension sheet is downloadable from Technical Downloads. Installed dimensions are confirmed against the nameplate size during the review.

Not a Clark 3? Other Starting Points

The same programme runs in the other direction: if you operate Durco Mark 3 pumps themselves, start from the D Mark III General Purpose ANSI Pump page. For an installed Clark 3, the fastest route is the RFQ below — the nameplate & drawing identification guide and the urgent RFQ checklist shorten the first exchange. Planning a Clark 3 Changeover?

Send the nameplate photo — model, size, group and serial — with the duty as run today, the liquid data and the motor details. The reply is a reviewed proposal naming the D Mark III size and group, materials, sealing plan and scope. Fit is confirmed against the nameplate and the installed pump drawing before order. Pump down? Say so in the first message: the urgent parts RFQ checklist collects operational priority, identification and delivery data in one request.

Summit Clark 3 Replacement FAQ

Can the D Mark III replace my Clark 3 without re-piping?

For the same size designation and group, yes: the programme is built to the same Mark 3 pattern the Clark 3 follows, so envelope, flange positions and shaft interface align. Each changeover is still confirmed from the nameplate, the installed pump drawing and the duty point before quotation — that is a review discipline, not a formality.

Can the existing baseplate, piping and motor stay?

That is the point of a pattern changeover: B73.1 fixes the mounting envelope and flange positions for the size, and the group fixes the shaft extension and coupling interface. Where the review confirms size and group, baseplate, piping and motor stay in place.

Will the replacement perform identically to the Clark 3 it replaces?

The replacement is selected to your duty point — normal, minimum and maximum flow with required head — rather than assumed identical by family name. Where the installed impeller has been trimmed or the duty has drifted, the review catches it and the selection reflects the duty as run today.

Do you supply spare parts for an installed Clark 3?

Yes — where the decision is to keep the pump, wet-end and power-end parts to the Mark 3 pattern are supplied through the Replacement Parts Center identification route: nameplate photo, part position, material, and reference number where available.

Which materials can the replacement be built in?

Published wet-end options run from WCB and CF8M through CD4M (CD4MCu), CN7M, Hastelloy B & C, 100% nickel, titanium and zirconium alloy. The wetted specification in service is the starting point; a materials engineer reviews any change of liquid or concentration.

How does a Clark 3 group map to a D Mark III group?

The Clark 3 follows the Mark 3 group logic, and the D Mark III programme publishes Groups 1K, 2K and 3K. The correspondence for your specific pump is confirmed from the nameplate during selection — stated group, size designation and serial — rather than promised from a table.

What data closes a replacement review in one cycle?

A nameplate photo; the duty as run today; liquid, concentration, temperature, specific gravity, viscosity and solids; wetted material and sealing arrangement in service; motor voltage and frequency; whether baseplate and motor stay; quantity, documentation needs, destination and target date. Anything unknown, stated as unknown.

How is pricing confirmed?

Against the reviewed configuration: size, group, material, sealing and scope (complete pump, bare wet end or parts), with inspection and documentation requirements priced explicitly. The quotation states what was reviewed, so both sides sign off on the same configuration.

What are the lead time and warranty for this pump?

Typical lead time is 4 weeks for a complete pump, 2 weeks for a bare wet end and 1 week for replacement parts, from deposit and approved drawings. Warranty is 12 months from shipment against defects in materials and workmanship within the reviewed duty. Late shipment attributable to YSM is compensated at 0.5% of contract value per week, capped at 5%.

What are the payment and delivery terms?

30% T/T deposit within 7 days of order, 70% T/T before shipment, or irrevocable L/C at sight; export-grade wooden-case packing; any Incoterms 2020 term (EXW Zibo, FOB Qingdao, CIF, DAP/DDP) as agreed in the quotation. Factory witness testing and third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TÜV) are accepted. Full terms: Commercial Terms

Request a Clark 3 Replacement Quote

The form below carries the initial request; drawings, nameplate photos and any remaining data can follow during review. The technical review uses, where available: a nameplate photo of the installed pump (model, size designation, group and serial), the duty as run today — normal, minimum and maximum flow with required head — liquid composition, concentration, temperature, specific gravity, viscosity and solids, the wetted material and sealing arrangement in service, motor voltage and frequency, whether the baseplate and motor are intended to stay, quantity, inspection or documentation needs, destination and target delivery date.

Open “Add technical details” to fill in what you know, and mark anything uncertain as unknown — a marked gap is reviewable, a silent one is not.

Summit Clark 3 Replacement Decision Guide

Selection boundaries save both sides a review cycle: the fastest quotation starts on the right page.

Start with this page when

  • An installed Clark 3 built to the Mark 3 pattern needs replacement, and a nameplate, reference number or original data sheet is available.
  • The intent is a same-size, same-group changeover — complete pump or bare wet end — rather than a parts repair.
  • A reverse-vane wet end with external impeller adjustment matches the plant’s maintenance philosophy.

Review another page when

  • The duty is new rather than tied to an installed pump: start from the D Mark III Series and send the duty point.
  • The installed pump is a 3196-type open-impeller design: review the G196 Series and its replacement programmes.
  • The honest answer is parts for the installed pump: the Replacement Parts Center carries identification and ordering routes.
  • The duty point is specifically low flow: the D Mark III Low Flow page carries the dedicated sizes.
