ISO 5199 / ISO 2858 Process Pumps
Six pump ranges built to the European pattern: single stage process pumps to EN ISO 5199 / EN 22858 (ISO 2858), wear-resistant and non-clogging variants, an API 610 type OH2 end-suction range, a multistage casing range and a vertical turbine range. Selection starts from your duty point and the installed pump’s documentation — every range is supplied as non-OEM equipment manufactured by YSM.

What ISO 5199 Specifies
ISO 5199 is the international technical specification for Class II centrifugal pumps — single-stage or multistage, horizontal or vertical, with any drive, for general application. Chemical process pumps conforming to ISO 2858 are named as typical of the pumps it covers. It belongs to a set of three classes: Class I carries the most severe requirements and Class III the least severe. The current edition is ISO 5199:2002, confirmed in 2018.
ISO 5199 sets requirements, not dimensions. Principal dimensions, designation and nominal duty point come from ISO 2858 (EN 22858), so the two are read together — see ANSI, ISO and API standards compared.
Key technical requirements
- Shaft deflection at the seal faces, under radial load within the allowable operating range: no more than 0.05 mm (50 µm).
- Rolling-bearing basic rating life L10: at least 17,500 hours.
- First lateral critical speed: at least 10% above the maximum allowable continuous speed.
- Vibration on test for horizontal pumps on rigid support, measured at the bearing housing: 3.0 mm/s r.m.s. for shaft centre heights up to 225 mm, 4.5 mm/s above.
- Pressure basis for ISO 2858 pumps: at least 16 bar gauge at 20 °C in cast iron, ductile iron, carbon steel or stainless steel.
- Hydrostatic test at 150% of maximum allowable working pressure for 10 minutes; minimum corrosion allowance 3 mm.
- Seal and packing cavity dimensions are referenced to ISO 3069.
The standard lets a supplier offer pumps that deviate from a clause, provided every deviation is stated. YSM’s AC single stage range is designed to EN ISO 5199 and complies with EN 22858 (ISO 2858).

Replacing Installed European-Pattern Pumps
The AC range is manufactured to the EN ISO 5199 / EN 22858 (ISO 2858) pattern and is offered as a non-OEM replacement for installed European-pattern process pumps of this standard, including common Sulzer-type installations; the DW, DN, KZ, KM and KVT ranges are offered as non-OEM alternatives for equivalent Sulzer-type installations. In every case, interchangeability and interface dimensions are confirmed against the installed pump’s documentation during the selection review — nothing is promised from a family name. Start from the range page that matches the installed pump, or send the nameplate with the duty as run today. Running ANSI B73.1 equipment instead? Start from the ANSI replacement programme.

ISO Process Pump FAQ
Are these pumps built to ISO 5199?
The AC single stage range is designed to EN ISO 5199 and complies with EN 22858 (ISO 2858). The other ranges follow their own conventions — API 610 type OH2 for the KZ, vertical turbine VS1/VS6 for the KVT, ring-section multistage for the KM — under the same selection review discipline.
Can they replace installed Sulzer-type pumps?
Yes — each range is offered as a non-OEM replacement or alternative for equivalent Sulzer-type installations. Interchangeability and interface dimensions are confirmed against the installed pump’s documentation during the selection review.
Do you publish dimension tables for this range?
No. Selections are quoted against the duty point and the installed pump’s documentation; envelope and interface dimensions are confirmed during the selection review rather than read from a published table.
Which materials are available?
Wet-end castings are produced through YSM’s own foundry routes — sand, lost-foam and V-process — with traceable inspection reports. The material grade is confirmed to the liquid and its concentration at selection.
What data closes a selection in one cycle?
The duty point as run today, the liquid with temperature and concentration, the wetted material and sealing arrangement in service, documentation of the installed pump where this is a replacement, motor voltage and frequency, and quantity with destination. Anything unknown, stated as unknown.
What is ISO 5199?
ISO 5199 is the ISO technical specification for Class II centrifugal pumps in general application, covering design, materials, testing, installation and maintenance features. Chemical process pumps built to ISO 2858 dimensions are its typical subject.
What is the difference between ISO 5199 and ISO 9908?
Both belong to the same three-class set of ISO centrifugal pump specifications. ISO 5199 is Class II; ISO 9908 is Class III, the least severe, used for lighter general-duty pumps.
Is ISO 5199 the same as API 610?
No. API 610 is written for petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas services and assigns type codes such as OH2; ISO 5199 is a specification for general-application centrifugal pumps, typically chemical process pumps to ISO 2858.

Request an ISO Pump Selection
The form below carries the initial request; drawings, nameplate photos and any remaining data can follow during review. The technical review uses, where available: the duty point — normal, minimum and maximum flow with required head — the liquid with its concentration, temperature, specific gravity, viscosity and solids; the wetted material and sealing arrangement in service; documentation of the installed pump where this is a replacement; motor voltage and frequency; and quantity, inspection or documentation needs, destination and target delivery date. Open “Add technical details” to fill in what you know, and mark anything uncertain as unknown — a marked gap is reviewable, a silent one is not.
