ANSI Pump Power Frame Cross-Reference
ANSI/ASME B73.1 fixes where a pump bolts down; the power frame decides which bearing frame, housing, shaft and sleeve fit. This chart lines up the frame and group names used by common B73.1 pump families with the YSM frame each installed pump is reviewed against.
Two Pump Patterns, Two Frame Systems
Most B73.1 pump families follow one of two patterns. The Goulds 3196 pattern uses four power-end frames; YSM builds that pattern as the G196 series. The Durco Mark 3 pattern uses three groups; YSM builds it as the D Mark III series. Power-end parts are made to one pattern or the other, so the pattern of the installed pump is identified first.

MTX and LTX carry the same size band; LTX is the heavier power end, so the frame is read from the nameplate, not from the size. PumpWorks PWA Group 4 and 4-17 pumps are outside the published G196 size list and are reviewed case by case. CP is the overall coupling-to-casing dimension, as listed in the G196 and D Mark III dimension tables. A shared CP means the two patterns occupy the same baseplate length for matching designations; it does not make their power-end parts interchangeable.
Identifying the Frame of an Installed Pump
- Read the nameplate: model, size code as written, frame or group, and serial number.
- If the nameplate is missing, record the bearing numbers and photograph the bearing frame casting marks.
- Send the outline drawing if one is on file; for Mark 3-pattern pumps, state whether the power end is ANSI 3A or Mark 3A if known.

Power Frame FAQ
Does a matching frame name mean the parts fit?
No. The chart shows which YSM frame an installed pump is reviewed against for a changeover. Whether individual parts fit is confirmed from the installed pump’s nameplate and part data.
Do MTX and LTX pumps use the same sizes?
Yes. They carry the same size band; LTX is the heavier power end. The frame is read from the nameplate or the bearing frame, not from the size code.
How are Durco Mark 3 groups related to YSM D Mark III groups?
Group for group: Group 1 to 1K, Group 2 to 2K, Group 3 to 3K, with each size confirmed from the nameplate. Mark 3A power ends are checked separately against their drawings.
What should I send to confirm a frame?
A nameplate photo with model, size code, frame or group and serial number, the outline drawing if available, and bearing numbers if the nameplate is missing.
