G196 Series · Non-Clog · for Goulds CV 3196
The G196 CV is YSM’s recessed-impeller non-clog ANSI/ASME B73.1 chemical process pump. It follows the Goulds CV 3196 pattern — a vortex (recessed) impeller in a non-clog casing mounted on the standard ANSI power end — and is dimensionally interchangeable with the CV 3196 in the same size and frame. It is supplied as a non-OEM replacement pump or as replacement parts for an installed CV 3196-type pump, manufactured by Jinan Yingsiman Machinery Co., Ltd.
Recessed-impeller pumps handle liquids that would clog or be damaged by a conventional impeller: large or stringy solids, fibrous slurries, fragile crystals, and liquids with entrained air or gas. Performance is confirmed against your duty point — send flow, head, liquid and suction data for a reviewed selection with the applicable curve.

Design features
- Recessed impeller: the liquid is moved by an induced vortex, so most of the flow does not pass through the impeller vanes; solids up to a large fraction of the nozzle size pass without clogging.
- Non-clog casing with an unobstructed passage from suction to discharge.
- Gentle handling of shear-sensitive and fragile products: crystals, flocs and food-grade solids arrive intact.
- Power end common with the G196 general-purpose pump: bearing frame, housing, shaft, sleeve and seal chamber parts interchange.
- Seal chamber options and shaft arrangements as on the G196; labyrinth bearing isolators and SKF or equivalent bearings.
- Full G196 material range; hard-metal or high-alloy impeller options for abrasive solids.
Sizes and dimensions
Sizes and installation dimensions follow the CV 3196 pattern for the corresponding frame. The outline drawing and size-specific dimensions are issued with each selection; send the nameplate size and frame of an installed pump for a direct interchange check.
Materials of construction
Casing, impeller, cover and seal chamber are cast in WCB carbon steel, CF8M (316 stainless steel), CD4MCu duplex stainless steel, CN7M (Alloy 20), Monel, Nickel, Hastelloy B and Hastelloy C, Titanium and Zirconium alloy. For abrasive slurries the impeller and casing material are selected for wear as well as corrosion; the recessed impeller’s low solids contact reduces wear compared with an open impeller in the same service.
Interchangeability and replacement
For an installed Goulds CV 3196, a G196 CV of the same size and frame is a like-for-like replacement: baseplate, suction and discharge flange positions, coupling height and motor position are unchanged. Power-end parts are the G196 parts and interchange at the same position numbers; the non-clog casing and recessed impeller are supplied to the same pattern. Send the nameplate (model, size, frame, serial number), the outline drawing if available and any existing part numbers, and we return the matching G196 CV size and part list.
Part references (power end)
Power-end part references for the G196 CV are the G196 references (bearing frame, bearing housing, shaft, sleeve) listed on the G196 general-purpose page. Casing and recessed impeller references are confirmed per size with the selection.
Where the G196 CV runs
- Fibrous and stringy slurries in pulp and paper, textile and food processing.
- Crystal slurries and fragile solids in chemical and fertiliser production.
- Wastewater and process streams with large solids or entrained gas.
- Replacement of installed CV 3196-pattern pumps and parts.
Request a G196 CV selection or interchange review
To review a selection or an interchange, send the following with your enquiry:
- Duty point: rated flow and total head (state units), plus minimum and maximum flow if the pump will run across a range.
- Liquid: name or composition, concentration, temperature, specific gravity, viscosity, solids content and size, vapour pressure if volatile.
- Suction conditions: NPSH available, suction lift or flooded suction, tank or vessel layout.
- Installed pump data for replacements: nameplate model, size and frame or group, serial number, and a photo of the nameplate; the pump outline or foundation drawing if available.
- Materials, seal type, seal flush plan, motor supply (voltage, frequency, phase) and any documentation you require (material certificates, test reports, drawings).
We reply with a reviewed selection, the size and frame proposed, materials, seal arrangement and a quotation. Where the enquiry is a replacement for an installed pump, we confirm the dimensional interchange from your nameplate and drawing data before order.

G196 CV Non-Clog FAQ
What is a recessed-impeller (vortex) pump and when is it used?
The impeller sits back in the casing, out of the main flow path, and creates a vortex that carries the liquid through the pump. Most of the pumped stream never touches the impeller, so large solids, long fibres, fragile crystals and entrained gas pass through without clogging or damage. It is chosen when a conventional open-impeller pump would block or shear the product.
Is the G196 CV interchangeable with an installed Goulds CV 3196?
Yes, within the ANSI/ASME B73.1 envelope for the same size and frame: the G196 CV fits the existing baseplate, flange positions and coupling height, and its power end is common with the G196 general-purpose pump. The interchange is confirmed from nameplate data and the outline drawing before order.
What is the efficiency trade-off?
A recessed-impeller pump is less efficient than an open-impeller pump of the same size because the liquid is moved by the vortex rather than by direct vane contact. It is selected where solids handling, fibre handling or gentle handling of the product matters more than efficiency.
Which parts are common with the G196?
The bearing frame, bearing housing, shaft, sleeve, bearing isolators and seal chamber hardware are G196 parts. The casing and the recessed impeller are specific to the G196 CV.
What materials can I specify?
Wet-end parts in WCB carbon steel, CF8M (316 stainless steel), CD4MCu duplex stainless steel, CN7M (Alloy 20), Monel, Nickel, Hastelloy B and Hastelloy C, Titanium and Zirconium alloy; for abrasive slurries a hard-metal or high-alloy impeller is reviewed with the selection.
What are the lead time and warranty for this pump?
Typical lead time is 4 weeks for a complete pump, 2 weeks for a bare wet end and 1 week for replacement parts, from deposit and approved drawings. Warranty is 12 months from shipment against defects in materials and workmanship within the reviewed duty. Late shipment attributable to YSM is compensated at 0.5% of contract value per week, capped at 5%.
What are the payment and delivery terms?
30% T/T deposit within 7 days of order, 70% T/T before shipment, or irrevocable L/C at sight; export-grade wooden-case packing; any Incoterms 2020 term (EXW Zibo, FOB Qingdao, CIF, DAP/DDP) as agreed in the quotation. Factory witness testing and third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TÜV) are accepted. Full terms: Commercial Terms
